Bridged Lott was born in Africa and spent the first 30 years of her career as a
scientist.  She intends spending the next 30 in the art and decor fields.
"I need to balance out the left and right sides of my brain," says Bridged with a laugh!

Bridged was fortunate enough to be exposed to the arts as a young person and
danced classical ballet from the age of 3 and began painting and drawing at around
the same age.  On graduating from high school, Bridged was torn between pursuing a
career in either the arts or science.     Her brilliant parents sensibly advised her to
make science her profession and art her hobby.  At 16, on a graduation holiday in
Zimbabwe, Southern Africa, Bridged was exposed to Shona stone sculpture.  “Each
morning I would walk through the market and watch the carvers at work.  I was
fascinated and a lifelong passion was born.  My parents were amazed when I returned
home with a huge piece of Shona stone sculpture. Over the years I slowly added to my
personal collection and am now in the fortunate position of being able to personally
select over 1000 pieces of sculpture a year for our galleries whilst always rewarding
myself with that one special piece from each container!”

During the last few years of Bridged and her husband Brian’s life in Africa, Bridged
would take time off from her busy microbiological practice to travel to North America to
promote African art.  “When the time came to leave Africa to live in Canada, I knew that I
was ready to move from science to art and we arrived in Canada with a 40 foot
container brimming with stunning pieces.  We opened our first African art gallery in
Langley in British Columbia in Canada and found a warm reception. Fortunately for me,
our gallery attracted the attention of many local artists and gallery owners and I soon
found myself surrounded by artistic people who encouraged me to start painting again.”

“I am so lucky,” says Bridged, “having lived in Africa and Europe and now in Canada
and Mexico, I have been exposed to a variety of art and decor and find myself naturally
drawn to beautiful, colourful things.”
"I love the colour and vibrancy of my native Africa and now my adopted Mexico", says
Bridged."   I have sought out other artists who have the same passion for colour and
take as many classes as I can with teachers who promote the impressionist
philosophy of light and colour”.

Bridged paints in oils, acrylics and watercolors.  She finds the creative process a
constant source of fascination and joy, experimenting with a wide variety of concepts
including stone sculpture, silk painting and jewelry creation.    Her work and subject
matter is constantly growing and changing.  Much of her work is textural with the
frequent use of the palette knife in her pieces, others, especially the oil works, are
luminous and serene.

Bridged’s art is currently being exhibited in both Canada and Mexico with pieces in the
collections of private individuals on 3 continents.
